There are six steps to granting a wish. Each step builds on the next to help create an amazing dream day for a local everyday hero. Our dream days help shine a light on a hero’s story that may serve as an inspiration for others while further strengthing the resolve of the hero to keep shining. More than just a day of fun and excitement it can rekindle belief in the power of the human spirit. Or as one hero put it:
“A day that I will never forget. Thank you so much! Your dream day surprise is something that transcends life as it will stay with my spirit forever.”
Step 1: Nominate a hero
We rely on other foundations, family members, businesses, medical professionals, parents, and friends of everyday heroes for nominations.
Our primary rules:
- The person nominated must be deemed a hero by Experience Genie Foundation
- You can not nominate yourself for a surprise wish
- The person nominated must be medically fit to participate in the dream experiences

Step 2: Hero eligibility

Step 3: Discovering the hero’s wish
Someone from our Dream Team works with the nominator and family / friends to learn what the hero’s wishes are. This is where we push the limits of imagination to make a truly special day happen.
Step 4: Surprise the person with their dream day(s)
Our Dream Team creates an unforgettable experience driven by the family and/or friend’s creativity. It’s an incredible experience that enriches not just the lives of the hero and their families, but often an entire community.
Step 5: Go on Dream Day
Our Dream Day(s) can be made up of anything the Hero wants or needs. Most of our heroes don’t want anything for themselves and are very selfless but we always try to ensure there is something in the day only for them to thank them for being who they are. On any given day we could be flying fighter jets, racing cars, staying in luxury hotels, taking part in a VIP experience or giving monetary rewards to a hero for their work. It really is up to your imagination what we do. We think anything is possible. The dream team and/or genie will usually accompany the hero and family on their dream day. We want to ensure that everything is perfect!
Step 6: Pay it forward
We always ask the rewarded hero who their hero is and whether or not they would like to nominate that person for a dream day. We’re all about paying it forward and being a servant to others. Very genie of us hey?
