Just What I Needed!

My story on meeting the Experience Genie begins with winning a $500 Experience Genie gift card on Toronto's Breakfast TV.  It was simply meant for me but when the Genie found out that our family were going through some hardship with me recently losing my job and going back to school things changed.  He told me to bring my husband and 2 children to Great Wolf Lodge with an overnight bag and be ready for a surprising unique dream day!  And Boy o Boy was it ever Unique! This is what happened....

#1 Unique Thing to Do in Niagara Falls:  Stay at Great Wolf Lodge

This is where is all began!  Really this place is amazing it has everything anyone with children would need.  Our room was spectactular and the service was great.  We are officially spoiled.  It wasn't hard to find the genie because everyone was gathered around him asking to get a photo with him.  Plus, he was always very near a red hot Ferrari.  More on that later... 

#2 Unique Thing to Do in Niagara Falls:  Go for a spin at Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours

Be prepared to get very wet and have the time of your life.  The Genie wouldn't come with us on this one because he was afraid to get his nice red suit wet.  He promised to bring a wetsuit next time!  Its a great way to see the Niagara Gorge too.  After drying off it was time to see Niagara from the air...

#3 Unique Thing to Do in Niagara Falls:  Get a birds eye view with Niagara Helicopters

This was the highlight.  Seeing one of the natural wonders of the world from this angle.  What more could you ask for.  We were mightly impressed! 

#4 Unique Thing to Do in Niagara Falls:  Pamper yourself at Elements Spa

This was the perfect way to end a perfect day.  So relaxing and right in the lodge.  Very convienient! We slept like a baby with visions of driving a Ferrari in our head...

#5 Unique Thing to Do in Niagara Falls:  Go for a spin in aa Affinity Luxury Exotic Car Rental Ferrari Spider

Driving in this Ferrari was just too cool for school.  Especially when you were sitting next to a Blue Man.  Needless to say we turned a few heads! 

The following day our entire family was interviewed on Global TV for our 15 minutes of fame.  We're still trying to track down the video and will post it as soon as it becomes available.  In the meantime, check out me going for a spin in the Ferrari in the video below!

Cancer is a bitch!! There’s really no better way to describe it, but to go through all that that entails and to have someone celebrate your survival in ways you think up is extraordinary.  I can’t thank you enough for such a wonderful experience.  From the moment you knocked on my door in your “pretty freaky genie getup” I knew my life was about to change once again… this time in a fun but weird way! 

You don’t imagine on a regular “working day morning” that you are going to be driven away in a limo to some unknown destination and fly and flip on a trapeze at trapeze school when you are extremely afraid of heights. 

Then off to a Hollywood Stunts facility where the entire 120lbs -5 ft “ME” will be starting a brawl, jumping off a 30 ft platform backwards…. Throwing and flipping my self off a spring and absolutely having the time of my life.  Doing things I would never do and learning a little more about my strength and courage all while in the grandest city I live in (NYC).  If all of that isn’t enough, I ended the day at one of New York City’s most POSH hotels… “The Belvedere” right smack in the middle of Times Square… another place I rarely go.  Then to really top it off I was featured in the Saturday edition of the NY Daily News page 6 one of the most read newspapers period.  The entire day and experience was amazing and I was truly honored to be chosen.  Thank you for making New York City your first stop and for being the man you are.  You deserve all the best for making all of us feel special and loved.

An Unforgettagle Day With The Genie

Had a blast learning to scuba dive, driving a formula one racing car, doing 3 laps at 227 km/hr in a Ferrari Enzo and having a spa treatment. Thanks experiencegenie.com!!!

So here it is - an insiders look at the coolest things to do in Calgary.  I hope you like it.

#1 Cool Thing To Do in Calgary:  Meet the Experience Genie in front of Breakfast TV Studio

Calgary was the first place the Experience Genie officially granted a wish on live TV so I feel very special.  It was all so surreal how the day unraveled.  I was outside looking at the Ferrari Enzo parked in front of the studio and a blue guy came up to me and asked if I wanted to go for a drive.  The funny thing is, this wasn't the first time I saw this blue guy.  The night previous I saw him being interviewed by Jebb Fint on City TV at www.zrauto.ca (they sell and modify exotic cars) talking about how he was going to be on Breakfast TV www.btcalgary.ca surprising a local person with a dream day.  Little did I know that I would be the lucky person!

So, with a little convincing from my daughter I was hooked and we set off on a day I will never forget!

#2 Cool Thing To Do in Calgary:  Scuba Dive at the Dive Shop www.diveshopscuba.com
Simply put.  These guys are awesome.  Scuba Diving was always something that scared me and the instructor did an unbelievable job of making me feel comfortable.  By the end of my introductory session I was good enough to play underwater frisbee.  On top of that I gave my first interview with scuba gear on.  Now how many people can say that?  Check it out:

#3 Cool Thing To Do in Calgary:  Go to Allen Berg Racing School www.allenbergracingschools.com/
Ya that's right.  I drove a Formula Car.  The last time I even drove a maual transmission was about 10 years ago so I was a little intimidated to say the least.  But having an ex-Formula One driver (Allan Berg himself) be your teacher does wonders for your confidence and before long I was zipping around the track at lightning speed.  Well, maybe not lightning speed :)

#4 Cool Thing To Do in Calgary:  Drive a ZR Auto www.zrauto.ca modified $1.7 m Ferrari Enzo around www.racecity.com/

ZR Auto modified this bad boy to be the fastest car on the road and I was luck enough to take it for 3 laps around the track.  It was one of the most exhilirating experiences of my life and I'd like to thank ZR Auto owner Zahir Rana for helping to make this happen.

#5 Cool Thing To Do in Calgary:  Go to Spa Ritual at www.thesparitual.com/

OK - now it was time to relax - BIG TIME.  The Spa Ritual was just what was needed after a very intense day.  I was treated to a one hour massage and I felt like I was in a different world.  I could really get used to this!  The only bad thing about it was that it had to end.
